Additional Rules
Please resize your photos to 800x600 for display in the competition. JPG format only.
You are free to enhance your photos with the use of filters etc, though be warned excessive doctoring usually detracts from the original photo.
You may submit more than one photo if you desire.
Feel free to enter this competition whether you are a CG Arts artist, moderator, admin, or even if your entry is your first post here.
It is perfectly fine to enter with a photo taken on a mobile phone, a well composed grainy photo will beat a crystal clear photo of someones thumb (unless the thumb is the subject of the photo and it's done in a good way).
Durham Castle (about 3 or 4 mile away from where I live), taken from The Gates (a nearby shopping center) using my mobile phone (a Sony Ericsson K750i with a 2mp camera)
I know I didn't need to say all that but I thought, why not....

Ooh I think I've been there, when I was on a residential at Durham University, though it's fair to say alcohol played a big part of that week hence not sure
Edit: I've definitely peed from that bridge, about four of us did. Well it was 14 years ago, I was very young and very very drunk. The local brew, Theakstons was very nice indeed.
Will not be able to get the one i wanted till Sunday afternoon which i think is too late,, damm knew i should have taken my camera to the match at Aldershot today.
Nice article, i might try and get into photography, might even buy a propper camera eventually rather than using my phone if I enjoy it, I do take quite a few photos allready but thats usually special events or pics of my gf .

Competition closed.
Will let you know my decision once I've painstakingly gone over all the entries...which might take until Friday (when I get paid )
Brandons: I love how you've captured the light in the photo, it sort of has a soft, dreamy quality to it, evoking images of lazy carefree days.
u1bd2005: Great angle to take that photo from, it gives to me a sort of feeling of strength from the castle as it watches over the people. Strength, with lots of power.
Symon: Fantastic action photo, has the fun element too, with the capture of you as the proud owner looking on, would probably have stood a good chance of winning if it had been the right size.
The Durham Castle picture really captures a lot of contrasts, old and new, peace and war, strength and weakness...its all there. Great piccy. Brandons is also very very good, I really love the setting. However, a winner must be chosen and that winner is:
Spoiler:
Durham Castle
PM me with Paypal address, or whichever way you want the money
Congratulations.
I think I might make this a regular feature, maybe once a month or something, what do you reckon?

Any chance we could get this rolling again? And you wouldn't have to give money, you could just give the winner a chance to be named "Photographer of the month", or something like that. Is there enough people on here to have an interest?
Sure! I think it would be fun to change up the themes, month to month. A couple of ideas for themes could be Animals, Flowers, Panoramic Nature Views, Buildings, and would even be fun to do some abstract stuff, you know, the kind you have to try to guess what the heck it is? lol Just some ideas thrown out there.
Are there other photographers here? I know the last contest was a while ago.

I don't think there are any that do it as a real hobby, more keen enthusiasts that like to look at good pics and take the odd one too.
Some great ideas there. It's definitely something I'd like to see more of on here
Ah what the heck, i'm in...if i like the theme and if i can take a good pic that is...
can they be old pics as well, like from old holidays or so or do they have to be taken especially for the contest?
