Smokers 'make their children ill'A leading hospital says up to a third of the children it treats for certain conditions are ill because their parents smoke in front of them.
Dr Steve Ryan, Medical Director of Liverpool's Alder Hey Hospital, says bronchitis, asthma and ear infections could be cut if parents quit smoking.
He said parents often lied about whether they smoke near their children.

Don't get me started on this topic.
Only thing I have to say about this:
People that smoke in the same confined space as their children or in the vicinity of their children simply are lousy parents, that do not give a shit about the health of their children. They do not deserve to be parents imo. Having children is a privilege and that alone should be motivation enough to stop smoking or at least have the decency to respect their right to a good health!

I fully agree mate. I don't think smokers are aware of just how much damage these things cause, it's like they don't believe the amount of deaths caused by them. I know I didn't really see it myself during the 18 years I was a smoker, it took the death of someone close to m (due entirely to smoking) to make me realise that the dangers are real.
All smokers should be made to visit a hospital ward full of people in their last days due to smoking.

I don't have any problems with smokers, just the ones that smoke in front of their children. I'll even make it more general. I have a problem with smokers that do not respect the health of non-smokers, especially if those non-smokers are children.

I personally like the fact that smoking is being banned in these places, cause it makes them more accessible to me. I wouldn't lose a night of sleep if they didn't though.
