[GIMP Tutorial] Glowing Text

This is a tutorial made by me on how to make glowing text.
It is intended for GIMP, but the GIMP interface is very much alike the PhotoShop interface, so feel free to try this tutorial on PhotoShop!

This will be your final result, or close to it!

1. Open up a new image (size I will use is 400 x 120)
2. Fill the background with black.
3. With your text tool, write some text in white font.

4. Right click on the font layer and hit "Duplicate Layer".

5. On the bottom text layer, change the text font to whatever color you want the glow to be.
6. Right click on the bottom text layer, and click "Aplha to Selection".

7. Go to: Select -> Grow, and set it to 2 px.

8. Set the foreground color to whatever you set your text color to in step #5.
9. Fill in the selected areas with the bucket tool.
10. Go to: Filters -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur, and set both the Horizontal and Vertical Blur Radius to 8.

11. Set the optacy of your top text layer to a point between 70-80.
12. You're done!

I have a better tip, you know how your fonts come out choppy after painting it with a brush? do Ctrl+I then Ctrl+K it will invert it and make the edges smoother.
