ok

where do i set the colors for the foreground and background ? im just starting lmao sorry?
Bravo

On the left of your screen you will see like two squares with colours in them.

Just click one of the squares and pick a colour Wink

Pressing 'D' resets the colours to black and white.

My apple - don't know what happened to my stalk

I know what you mean vokab310 this guy makes really nice stuff but sometimes he forgets you are trying to follow him step by step. There is one of his tuts with globes with shoes and sparkly stuff in them, i'd love to make them but his tut is impossible to follow
vokab310

hi

bravo i dont understand what you mean by bit sorry,i agree cheeky its kinda hard for me cause im just learning but hey you did better then me so far on your apple, lol
cheekysneeky

Ahhh! I was just looking at step 5, it says 'Command-click the "Apple" layer to load the selection' then immediately says 'Go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur, and set the Angle to 90 degrees and Distance to 3 pixels. Now go to Filter > Distort > Spherize, set the Amount to 100, set the Mode to Normal, and apply it. Set the layer Blending Mode to Overlay and Opacity at 50%. Hit Command + D to deselect.'. What it doesn't tell you is you should first click back onto your dots layer other wise you will change the 'apple layer' and make it white instead of the 'dots layer' which your are actually working on right now.
Bravo

Ah good shout cheeky.

To be fair, these tutorials are advertised as advanced tutorials.

There are some good basic ones that have a bit of humour in them called the 'You Suck At Photoshop' series...quite funny, and loads to learn too.

Bravo

The stuff in your profile is looking great.

It's against the rules for other people to post in your profile, so will say it here that it's looking good Smile
cheekysneeky

ty

thanxs  for the compliments on the few things i did. i am glad you like them. i will do more and move my self up to do harder things very soon and i will post them up. i have one question i know the  topic where i posted my stuff at, is Artist profiles, i know i am not even close to being artist yet but did i post them up in the right spot or should i be posting them up in a new spot ? i am using photoshop cs3and for some reason i have no idea how to change the color of the fonts. on some tutorials i see there is a icon (button) half way up the screen on right hand side that has a "A" on it, how do i get  that there ?
Bravo

To change the colour of your words, make sure the text 'T' button is pressed, and the layer of the text you want to change is selected.

At the top, there will be a little colour box.  Click it and pick a colour.

Also, you can just highlight some text and click the same colour box (if you wanted to only change the colour of certain letters for example).

Yes you posted in the right spot Wink

k

ok thanks bravo  Very Happy
vokab310

question?

ok i have a picture that i am wanting to take the background out of, tried using color range and magic wand tool and both of them keep taking out parts of the image that is not the background. it lets me do it only on certain picture but these ones it wont let me. what am i doing wrong ?
Bravo

Either raise or lower the range it is choosing (on color range it's called fuzziness, I forget the word used on the wand tool).

Basically, the higher the number, the more further it will go in it's selection.  eg if you wanted to select the colour #00336b ONLY you would set the fuzziness to 1.

Best bet is have a play with the numbers and see what it selects.  For more complicated and mixed images you might have to get your selection a different way, or in stages.
