I'm currently in the process of reading Spike Milligans war memoirs, he wrote 7 books on the war in all. The first of which is 'Adolf Hitler - My Part In His Downfall'.
I have to say they are brilliant, yet also poignant, he hated war, he hated death, he loved life and fun.
The war also sent him a little mad, when he was in Italy and he saw the bodies of those he had helped kill (he was in the artillery). Hence the book from that era is entitled 'Mussolini, His part In My Downfall'.
Wonderful, wonderful books from a wonderful comic talent.
